Description

Boron Carbide F240 B4C Grit 240 for Armor

Boron Carbide F240 (B4C) grit is a high-performance ceramic raw material specially customized for lightweight ballistic armor manufacturing, widely applied in military body armor plates, tactical helmet liners, vehicle composite armor and aircraft protective components. Known as “black diamond”, boron carbide ranks among the hardest synthetic materials globally, featuring ultra-high hardness, low density and excellent ballistic resistance, making it the core functional material for high-grade lightweight defense armor.

Our F240 boron carbide grit adopts high-purity boron carbide raw blocks, processed via precise crushing, shaping and strict F-standard grading. It features uniform 240-mesh particle size distribution, consistent angular particle morphology and ultra-low impurity content, fully meeting military-grade armor production standards. With a Mohs hardness of 9.3 and extremely low specific gravity, it achieves an optimal balance of anti-penetration performance and lightweight advantage, far superior to alumina ceramic materials in comprehensive protective effects.

In armor manufacturing, F240 B4C grit serves as the key reinforcing aggregate for sintered ballistic ceramic tiles and composite armor structures. Its rigid angular particles can effectively blunt, crush and dissipate the kinetic energy of high-speed projectiles and armor-piercing bullets. The uniform particle gradation forms a dense and integrated ceramic framework after high-temperature sintering, avoiding structural defects such as pores and cracks, greatly improving the armor’s anti-impact and anti-penetration capabilities.

Different from ordinary abrasive-grade boron carbide, this armor-specific F240 grit has stable chemical inertness, outstanding thermal shock resistance and structural uniformity. It perfectly matches hot pressing sintering and composite molding processes, producing lightweight armor plates that meet NIJ III/IV protection levels. The finished armor features light weight, high strength and long service life, effectively reducing the load on personnel and combat vehicles while ensuring reliable ballistic protection.

With stable batch quality and standardized particle size, Boron Carbide F240 grit is the preferred raw material for global high-end lightweight ballistic armor manufacturing, widely recognized by military defense and tactical equipment manufacturers for its superior protective performance and stable process adaptability.
